Twins

The most recent issue of National Geography features a pair of beautiful twin sisters. This cover especially caught my eye because I have always had a fascination with identical twins. There’s no doubt that the bond between siblings is strong, but having shared the same mother, same womb, same DNA and face is a bond I can imagine being way more powerful. Physically and psychologically. Also, twins are our only hope of learning about the “nature vs. nurture” debate. Since they have the same genes and DNA, their differences later in life can tell us a lot.

The story of Leda and the Swan got me thinking about twin birds. The imagery of two hatching from one egg is so contradictory to nature, in most cases a double yolk egg doesn’t survive without human intervention, but I found one that did.
